The Brief
Refreshing the Made in Grimsby & Cleethorpes website involved taking a long time to think about the business’ journey so far, where it has come from, where it currently is and where we want it to go, moving forward. It involved a lot of analysis, heart-to-hearts with myself, and some big decisions that essentially ended with the following conclusions:
- The directory of small businesses, although once the main feature of the website, was no longer serving its original purpose and I deemed it to be time to retire it.
- I wanted the blog to be the most prominent feature of the website. I wanted to dedicate more of my own time to it, and I wanted to open it up to others.
- I wanted to push more sales through the website. I get a few sales through Etsy, but for MIG&C is just isn’t a realistic selling platform. Therefore, it makes more sense to push focus – and SEO efforts – onto the website.
- I wanted the Book Club to continue to feature prominently on the website, because it is a page with one of the highest click-through rates and lowest bounce rates. The Book Club is also an important part of the overall ethos of MIG&C so I am keen to promote it as well as possible.
